Aston Manor have been recognised as one of the leading manufacturers in the Midlands at the prestigious Birmingham Post Business Awards.

Nominated for Excellence in Manufacturing the competition was fierce, with Aston Manor shortlisted alongside prominent and internationally recognised businesses in the region.

After a rigorous judging process, which included site visits to the Stourport-on-Severn cider mill and a presentation to an expert panel, Aston Manor Cider were named as one of just three finalists alongside engineering firm A&M EDM and the eventual winner, Jaguar Land Rover.

The judges were impressed with Aston Manor’s commitment to sustainable production, as demonstrated by the new water processing system at Stourport-on-Severn; investment in manufacturing facilities and product development; and the new infrastructure at the business’ Witton and Aston sites to reduce noise pollution and HGV traffic.

The awards presentation, held in front of more than 600 guests at the ICC on the 18th October, celebrated business excellence and achievement across 13 different categories.

Attendees were also able to enjoy the product of Aston Manor’s labours as the business provided delicious ciders for the dinner.

Gordon Johncox, managing director of Aston Manor Cider, said: "We are delighted with further recognition for our commitment to invest in world-class facilities. This delivers considerable improvement in environmental and manufacturing performance.

"We have great teams in place right across our business and a clear focus on how we can continue to improve in all areas of operation. It is great to see the progress we are making."

This recognition from the Birmingham Post is the latest in an already record-breaking year of awards with 23 accolades to date. This includes a win in the Innovation category at the West Midland’s Business Masters Awards for the great strides made in reducing water consumption at its Stourport-on-Severn processing facility.

Other plaudits include Gold and Silver medals at the World Cider Awards, International Cider Challenge, British Bottlers Institute Awards and International Cider Awards for the cider maker’s premium and mainstream brands, as well as accolades for Friels First Pressed Vintage at the Harpers Design Awards.

Aston Manor Cider has previously won the Drinks Business Green Awards’ Water Management for the innovative system at Stourport-on-Severn with all three production sites receiving the highest possible accreditation for excellence in food and drink production.
