How are we reducing it?

As business Aston Manor has always had an environmental focus, driven by ownership of sustainable orchards. New initiatives are constantly reviewed in order reduce the carbon footprint further.

One such initiative is to provide services internally rather than buy them in. As an example, we purchase pre-moulds and use our own bottle moulds to produce PET bottles. The result is that the environmental impact of transporting large numbers of PET bottles is reduced.

A further example of the Aston Manor passion for the environment is the Sustainable Orchards Initiative. As a Cider producer our orchards are the most precious asset to the business; the Sustainable Orchards Initiative includes always replenishing the environment by planting new apple trees and ensuring that any waste by products from the cider making process, such as the pomice, is given to local farmers as animal feed. This virtuous circle of finest care produces the finest fruit which receives the finest care.

Other initiatives include those relating to packaging waste and carbon footprint. In the Packaging Waste Initiative Aston Manor has an on-going packaging waste scheme in which the business commits to ensuring as much packing waste such as Glass, Plastic and paper is recycled to become more environmentally responsible. In the Carbon foot print initiative Aston Manor has launched a project to examine how the business can reduce its environmental impact which aims to measure and more importantly reduce the organisation carbon foot print.
